Entry for the 2011 OISTAT Theatre Architecture Competition
The Sight of Sound re-imagines St. Anna’s, an existing church in Prague, as a house for contemporary audio-visual performances and art. The design proposal preserves the church's existing walls, vaults and roof structure. Two new spaces are introduced: an acoustically tuned 150-seat theatre on the upper level; and an exhibition space for sound art installations on the ground floor. Suspended LED nets line the theatre's walls, while projection systems are installed in the apse. St. Anna's provides musicians and artists with a venue to stage immersive performances that integrate sound and vision.
The Sight of Sound received a merit prize and was exhibited at the 2011 Prague Quadrennial.
